LK+RIGI design

On our latest interview we go through the work of LIU Kai and his office the RIGI design. Gathering honors and awards for the past few years, LIU Kai has developed his unique design language and way of presenting the space through logical analysis of needs and functions combined with artistic illustration elements.
Not limited by existing styles or forms, he uses his very own understanding and language, allowing for his works to deliver the most efficient design solution to each project.

— Approach —

"Starting from life and then come back to real life. The essence of design is problem-solving. From this point, there is no difference in designing a button or a city. Starting from small scenes in people’s life to deconstruct this world and then rebuild it with the language of design.
In this way, more warmth and attraction is brought to this world. It's like playing Lego, through adopting different logic and combination of the basic parts, more possibilities will be shown."

— Start —

"Some very interesting phenomenon will be dig out by observing people’s behavior, thus needs of life will be found. The essence of design is to solve problems and satisfy all kinds of needs, and to meet the needs which require being satisfied in a problem. RIGI always pays attention to the changes of our time and thinks about the logic behind it. This also represents the future trend. "

— Clients —

"RIGI always does the thinking from the perspective of end user, start from life and people’s needs and brings its works closer to people through design. Design should not be separated from life; good designs will bring a nice experience to consumers.
In the process of designing, we will guide our clients to think from the perspective of end users.
In this regard, we share the same goal with our clients. The relationship among consumers, designers and clients is unified instead of antagonistic. Only when we start from life and needs will us achieve a win-win situation."

— China —

"China is an energetic country which is changing and developing rapidly. RIGI’s creativity comes from its behavior and experience of concerning about time spirit, business trend and life-style.
RIGI’s design focus on the relationship between human and life; and the design vision is expressed in its works. In the coming future, RIGI will grow together with human and life.
RIGI will keep exploring the relationship between human and life, and the relationship between people’s behavior and life. To develop interesting design which connects to people and has life."

— Material —

"Materials and forms are only for the realization of design; however, design itself should not be the final goal. The essence of design is to satisfy needs, and this is the premise of the existence of design.
To understand the needs will create more space for design, and the relation between design and business is not game relation; brilliant design will promote social progress."

— Influences —

"RIGI does not set limits on itself. The world is multidimensional, so design should not exist in the form of one pure category. The essence of business is needs, while the essence of design is solving problems and satisfying needs. Needs come from life while improvements come from The Time.
Design is to adopt suitable and reasonable approaches to express consumption demands and brand characteristics through life terminal. Instead of confining ourselves to one or several industries, we need to be motivated and curious all the time. We need to pay attention to the changes of this age and behaviors of human, and to understand the industries with rigorous and professional attitude, thus to sum up some meaningful points to express our views.
Better Design, Better Life, we hope RIGI will make this world more funny."
