A young team is bringing a fresh and innovative approach to Mexican architecture, relying on their interpretation of the vernacular heritage and the relations their work creates with the community.
Made of three family members, an architect, an interior designer and an engineer, TACO “taller de arquitectura contextual”, takes on every work controlling every stage, transforming traditional craftsmanship into a contemporary expression.
We bring you the architect Carlos Patrón Ibarra, the interior designer Ana Patrón Ibarra and the engineer Alejandro Patrón Sansor, with their very own view of their work, their approach and the context of a modern day México divided between heritage and contemporary living.
TACO is a multidisciplinary workshop where architectural, urban, interior, landscape and furniture projects are designed and implemented comprehensively.
Our projects are based on context analysis, ranging from the tangible factors such as nature and the built environment, among others; to intangible factors, such as culture, history, building budget and users characteristics.

The workshop’s philosophy lays in the conviction that lecture, interpretation and interlace of unique and particular context elements of every single situation, result in projects with a strong sense of identity and rootedness to the site, which contributes to building the testimony of a more aware and sensitive society with the space where it develops.
The processes are crucial in our discourse. That is the reason why we internally execute all the items of a crafted construction, and as far as possible, we try to find the essence of the problems to suggest creative solutions for lower costs in each category.
The core team is made up of young architects, designers and civil engineers, who get along with masonry, carpentry , blacksmithing and aluminum officers . All these have a constant and close relationship during all stages of the project, in order to have an overview of the process towards a common goal.
In the workshop we like to build partnerships with other professionals at any stage of the project. We see in them an opportunity for dialogue, tolerance, feedback and learning, which is always positive for any project.
Established in Merida, Mexico since 2011, TACO has been in charge of the intervention and construction of different kind of projects in various locations, mainly in southeast Mexico.
